Licensing Issues

In almost all cases, the installation and activation process for Orca3D goes smoothly. However, there are circumstances where for some reason the license is not recognized, the license service won’t start, etc. To help diagnose these problems, Nalpeiron (www.nalpeiron.com), the company the provides the licensing tools for Orca3D, has provided some repair and diagnostic utilities.

Standalone Node-Locked Licenses

The first thing to do is to be sure that the Nalpeiron Service is running. To check this, open the Windows Services dialog:

  • Windows XP: Open the Control Panel, and double-click on Services.
  • Windows 7: Click Start, then in the Search box type Services. Click on “Services” in the search results.
  • Windows 8: Using the Search charm, type Services. Click on “View Local Services” in the search results.

You should see “Nalpeiron Licensing Service” in the list, and its status should be “Running.” If not, right click on it and select Start.

If this does not solve the problem, please visit Nalpeiron’s site http://updatemyservice.com to update to the latest version of the Nalpeiron Service. The site includes detailed instructions.

If you are still having trouble, please download the Nalpeiron Node Locked Computer Performance Diagnostic UtilityYou must put the utility in the Orca3D installation folder (normally c:\Program Files\Orca3D(64-bit) or c:\Program Files (x86)\Orca3D). Once you have downloaded the file, run the utility by right-clicking on the file and selecting “Run as Administrator.” When the utility starts click the “Find License Issues” button. When the diagnostic is complete you can click the exit button. The diagnostic utility will ask you if you want to save the results. You should say “yes” (noting the file name and location). The utility will create a file (typically called computerresults.txt, located in the root directory (c:\). Send this file to us attached to an email, with a description of the problem that you are having.

While not as important, it’s also helpful for us to know some of the details of your computer and operating system. You can run the Belarc Advisor PC Audit Utility found here: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html. This utility will create a pdf file that should be sent to us.
