ORCA and VMWare

I like to run trials in VMWare to avoid messing up my main system. ORCA3D says it is not authorized to run on VMWare and while I get a chance to activate it (Trial) it has a VMWare popup over it, and when I remove that, the Activation popup disappears. I can not find any ORCA plugins or menu items to try again... Can I run it in VMWare?

Hi,
While I understand your desire to keep your main system "clean" while testing software, the Orca3D security system will not allow the software to be run with VMWare, as this would potentially strip out the software protection.

I suspected as much - and I understand. A bit the majority having to suffer for the evils of the minority - or is it the other way around :-P Never heard of VMWare being able to do this, but can guess its possible, but would it be practical for any serious user?... Cheers, A.

For Mac users, Orca3D will not run on a Mac with VMware Fusion2.

Hello there,
As you I am a Mac user, and in my experience I greatly recommend to use VirtualBox from Sun Microsistems, is totally free and there Rhino and ALL its plugins works perfect, of course Orca3D as well. Only disadvantage: does not work the sound card, so if you love to listen music when you design, just bring your MP3 player.
Also make sure to install the "Guest additions" that is under devices tab.
I hope this mail help you,
Best regards
Victor Soto
