Weight & Cost Report
«

Hi,
wouldn't it be nice to include the following Objects in to the Weight & Cost Report (like in RhinoMarine):
- Include Geometric Objects WITH Weight or Cost Properties (already done)
- Include Geometric Objects WITHOUT Weight or Cost Properties
Support for all objects listed in the Orca3D Tree would be very nice - also for meshes.
Thanks.

Enrico:
Thank you for the suggestion. We intend to allow the weight and cost report to be organized by the user, so that weight groups can be created and objects organized into those groups.
Am I correct that you'd like to have the option to include geometry items that don't have any weight or cost properties in the report? Is the idea that you might want to assign those properties later in Excel? My concern is that you might have a very complex model, and want to include some of the items without weight, but not all of them. One idea would be to have two main branches in the organization tree; one would be for items that should be in the report (under this branch you would create your weight groups), and another branch for items not to be included. That way you could simply drag any items without weight into the branch that is included in the report.
This is just a suggestion, and I'd be interested to hear your comments and ideas.
Your suggestion about assigning properties to a mesh is also a good one, and it will go on our development list.
Thanks,
Bruce

Hi Bruce,
the idea behind "Include Geometric Objects WITHOUT Weight or Cost Properties" is creating a BOM (Bill of Material). Currently named Rhino-Objects without Weight or Cost Properties do not appear in the Weight and Cost Report.
50 percent of my objects have Weight and Cost Properties. The other 50 percent of objects do not have Weight and Cost Properties (they don't need it, I'm using only the names of the objects). The names of all objects should (must) be exported to Excel.
This functionality is provided by RhinoMarine. Hope you can add it in the future.
Thanks,
Enrico

Hi Enrico:
We will add this feature.
Can I assume from your description that only the "named" objects should be included?
Thanks,
Bruce
