There are times that control points are collapsed all to the same location.  Is there a way to identify a point, say by its column and row number and select it?  Seem to me it would be handy to have access to a table of these values where you could actually update the table and have the control grid points move accordingly..

Cheers,

Other than Rhino's selection menu that appears when you click on points that are "stacked," there is no way to identify a particular point in the group. Your suggestion of a table for directly editing control point locations is a good one. It may also be possible for us to extend that functionality so that when you highlight one of the control points in the list, the control net "legs" that connect to that point are highlighted.

Incidentally, remember that stacking control points is not the best way to create a chine. If you want a chine, it's best to use the OrcaInsertChine command. This creates the chine mathematically without having to stack control points.

I would also suggest a method to traverse the control net, perhaps with +U and -U, +V and -V buttons that highlight the control point as the user scrolls from point to point.  That way, stacked control points could be highlighted/selected sequentially starting at a nearby control point, and clicking through to the point you want.

Rhino has commands for selecting control points that are either next or previous in the U or V directions. There are also commands for adding them to the currently selected control points.

The commands are NextU, PrevU, NextV, PrevV, AddNextU, AddPrevU, AddNextV, and AddPrevV. There is a toolbar with these functions on it (along with Invert Control Point Selection and Lasso points). In the Rhino Tools menu, select Toolbar Layout, then check Select Points.

If you have stacked control points, and you want to select only one of them, you could "step" your way into the stack by first selecting a point outside of the stack, and then using one of these commands to select the point in the stack that you want.
