When I assign directly a weight to an object and compute the center of mass from geometry (fig1),
I get the following message:
Orca3D Warning
Are you sure you want to remove/cost properties from the selected items?

For info, if you use a material then it works.

Hi Alan,

The intent when assigning a weight directly is that you would first select a material type of "None" from the dropdown. However, the user interface does not currently force you to select a material before interacting with the rest of the form. We will address this in the next release.

In the meantime, we've discovered a bug in 1.0.14 in which selecting a material type of "None" and setting the center of mass to "Compute from geometry" causes a crash. We have fixed this bug and the fix will be in the next release. In the meantime, the workaround is to create a "Point Material" in the material manager that has the weight you want, then assign that material to the item in question (and still select "Compute from geometry" for the center of mass). This should work fine and may even be a good long-term strategy as it allows you to re-use the object material if necessary.
